Liverpool midfielder Fabinho’s departure to join Al-Ittihad in a £40 million deal has been officially confirmed.

The Brazilian player will now be managed by Nuno Espirito Santo, formerly of Wolves and Tottenham Hotspur.

He will join N’Golo Kante and Karim Benzema as teammates after signing a three-year contract with the Saudi Arabian club.

This move comes in the wake of Jordan Henderson’s recent transfer to Saudi Arabia, where the 33-year-old joined Al-Ettifaq to reunite with Steven Gerrard.

Since his arrival from Monaco in 2018, Fabinho played a crucial role in Liverpool’s success, helping them secure their first Premier League title in 30 years and win a sixth European Cup.

He made 49 appearances for the Reds last season and a total of 219 during his five-year tenure.

Initially brought to Liverpool for £43.7 million, he had committed to the club until 2026, but circumstances have led to an early end of his association with the club, similar to Jordan Henderson’s case.

Liverpool is already working on finding a replacement for Fabinho, with Southampton’s Romeo Lavia being a priority target.
