The presidential election petition court on Tuesday resumed for parties to adopt their final written addresses.

It began with the address of Abubakar Atiku, the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP

The Justice Haruna Tsammani-led panel directed the parties to prepare their final briefs of argument and appear before the court for adoption.

The court invited the parties to adopt their written address concerning the petition against President Bola Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima, seeking to nullify their election.

The adoption of final addresses was a crucial step toward fixing a date for judgment in this case.

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on March 1 announced that Tinubu had received 8,794,726 votes to defeat the two main candidates, Atiku, who came in second with 6,984,520 votes, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP who came in third with 6,101,533 votes.

However, being dissatisfied with the outcome of the election, Atiku and Obi went to court to annul it.

They claimed to have won the presidential election in their separate petitions, even as they challenged Tinubu’s candidacy.

The petitioners prayed for the court to annul the election and demand a new presidential election, except for Tinubu, whom they initially said was ineligible to participate.
