Canadian PM Trudeau & Wife Sophie Separate After 18-Year Marriage

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie have announced their decision to separate after 18 years of marriage.

Trudeau shared the news through a brief statement on his Instagram account on August 2, 2023.

In her own Instagram post, Sophie expressed a similar message. 

The couple tied the knot in late May 2005 and have three children together.

Trudeau’s office confirmed that the separation was finalized with a legal agreement and both parties took the necessary steps to ensure the process was handled ethically. 

Despite being seen together at various social functions and international trips during Trudeau’s time as prime minister, in recent years, Sophie has reduced her public appearances alongside her husband. 

Their decision to part ways marks the end of their long-standing marital relationship.
