Chuba Akpom, the Nigerian striker, expressed his desire to remain at Middlesbrough despite the uncertainty surrounding his future as he enters the final year of his contract on Teesside, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.

Having enjoyed a remarkable season last year, winning the Championship’s Golden Boot and Player of The Year awards, Akpom’s long-term prospects with the club are uncertain due to his contract expiring next summer. Clubs like Everton and Crystal Palace have shown interest in the forward due to his impressive performances.

In a statement to Northern Echo, the former Arsenal player emphasized his wish to stay at Middlesbrough, mentioning ongoing negotiations between his representatives and the club. Akpom expressed his love for the club, feeling at home, and appreciated the support from the fans.

Akpom might not be available for Middlesbrough’s Championship season opener against Millwall due to injury. He had setbacks during the pre-season games but is making progress in his recovery, focusing on regaining his fitness without rushing and risking further injuries.
