A Magistrate’s court in Ikorudu, Lagos, on Friday, brought on trial a 31-year-old man, Lawal Rasaq for kidnapping, and defiling a 17-year-old girl.

Rasag was faced with two court counts of kidnapping and defiling.

Prosecutor Ms Olawunmi Osibanjo told the court that the defendant committed the crime from July 29 to August 8 at Ireshe Road, Alagbonmeta, Ikorodu.

Osibanjo stated that he kidnapped the teenage girl to his house and defiled her, in violation of Sections 268 and 137 of the Lagos State Criminal Act 2015.

Chief Justice A B Olagbegi Adelabu, who did not accept the defendant’s plea, ordered him to be taken to the Kirikiri Detention Center.

Adelabu also ordered that the case be referred to the state’s Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.

The Justice, therefore adjourned the case until September 7 for mention.
