Delta Approves N1.5bn Subsidy Palliative For Civil Servants

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has approved a N1.5 billion palliative fund for civil servant in the state.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that the funds is to help cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal on the workers.

The palliative plan was released by Governor Oborevwori during the inauguration of the 26-member State Executive Council at the event centre in Asaba on Tuesday.

This palliative initiative aims to provide relief over a span of three months, aiming to alleviate the hardships caused by the removal of fuel subsidies and the depreciation of the naira against the dollar.

“The commencement of payment for this financial support is slated for this August, a measure that reflects the governor’s commitment to promptly addressing the pressing concerns of the state’s residents.”

The Delta State Civil Service, which is comprised of 50,196 members, will benefit from this initiative.

Each civil servant will receive an additional ₦10,000, commencing from the end of August. This financial support is expected to provide some relief to these hardworking individuals who contribute to the state’s development.”
