Obaseki Dissolves Philip Shaibu's Media Aides

The media team for the Office of Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu in Edo State has been dissolved by the state government.

The dissolvment was announced by Chris Nehikhare, the Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, on Monday.

According to Nehikhare, the deputy governor has been instructed to approach the Ministry of Communication and Orientation for media coverage of his office’s activities.

The Commissioner explained that the directive was issued due to an incident that occurred during the 60th Midwest Referendum celebration, where individuals said to be the deputy governor’s media crew violated the established protocol for media coverage.

The event took place at the Sir Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub and Soundstage.

The official statement read:

The Edo State Government has taken the decision to disband the media crew associated with the Deputy Governor’s Office. The Deputy Governor has been directed to henceforth coordinate with the Ministry of Communication and Orientation to organize media coverage for his office’s activities.”

Commenting on the matter Nehikhare said:

The planned walkout and disruption, which appeared to be premeditated, is deeply unfortunate and is not in line with the approved protocol.”
