The Delta police command in Asaba, Delta State has announced the arrest of over 100 suspects during a gay wedding ceremony.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that the suspects were apprehended at a hotel in the state on August 29.

The Command promised to parade the gay suspect in a live social media video as soon as possible.

The statement on its official X post read:

“Delta State Command has arrested over a hundred gay suspects in a hotel carrying out a gay wedding ceremony.”

Nigeria’s anti-gay law passed in 2014, imposed a 14-year prison term for same-sex sexual activities.

Checks revealed in December 2019, 47 men were arrested in Lagos for publicly displaying affection for members of the same sex were arraigned in court.

However, all of them pleaded not guilty and were granted bail.

Also, the charges against them were later dismissed due to a “lack of diligent prosecution” by the police.
