President Bola Tinubu has mourned the passing of Sheikh Abubakar Giro Argungu, a prominent Islamic cleric, who died on Wednesday.
Tinubu’s spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, conveyed that the loss of the religious leader resonated beyond his immediate community.
The President stressed that the entire country was affected by the cleric’s death due to his significant contributions to Islamic studies and his well-known advocacy for moral rectitude.

He expressed his deep sorrow and compassion to Argungu’s family, followers, and allies.
According to Ngelale, the President highlighted the cleric’s courageous advocacy and his commitment to holding politicians accountable for their promises.
Tinubu extended his condolences to the deceased’s family, the government and people of Kebbi State, and the Nigerian Muslim community while offering prayers for the departed’s eternal life.
He said:
“The voice of Sheikh Giro Argungu will long be remembered for his years of Islamic propagation and advocacy for righteousness. The activities of the cleric through the Islamic group, JIBWIS, where he had served as the Working Committee Chairman, has contributed immensely in guiding a large flock of Muslim youths over the years.”
