An apprentice tailor identified as Hakeem Mujib was on Sunday, beaten to death by his colleagues in Lagos.
Mujib was beaten to death by several tailors on suspicion of being a spy for a robbery gang in the Obadina area of Lagos Island.
It was learned that the apprentice had gone to a two-storey building at 7a Obadina Street, off Obe Street, around 2 am to rest with a friend, Kehinde.
A witness explained that Mujib’s boss, whose office was near Massey Children Hospital, sent him around 1:30 am to do internal linking of sewn clothes.

When he knocked at the main gate of the penthouse on the 2-storey, the 21-year-old was mistaken for a spy of burgers and was beaten to death.
The eyewitness said:
“It was while Hakeem was knocking the main gate of the penthouse on the 2-storey building being occupied by some tailors that they demanded who he was looking for at that hour.
“The tailors who didn’t know his friend accused him of trying to be a spy for armed robbers who may later invade their shop and rob them of their belongings. And they beat him to death.”
The Lagos State Police Command was yet to comment on the incident as of press time.
