Taraba State government has announced a special stipend for members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in the state.

The government led by Agbu Kefas has decided to pay a one-time N50,000 medical allowance, a N25,000 accommodation allowance per term, and a monthly N10,000 to the corps members.

According to the Commissioner for Information and Re-orientation, Zainab Usman the decision was made due to the surge in school enrollment across the state as a result of the government’s declaration of free basic education, uniforms, and other learning materials.

Furthermore, exceptional youth corps members who distinguish themselves while serving in schools will be offered automatic employment opportunities.

The government will provide uniforms, shoes, socks, and books to support students in their pursuit of education.

An Information and Communications Technology, ICT-based registration system will be introduced, ensuring that teachers and students were registered and receive essential school materials upon their arrival.

The Commissioner added that schools that have reached their maximum capacity in terms of facilities will implement a shifting system temporarily while additional buildings were provided to meet the increasing demand.
