A Facebook user identified as Chioma Egodi Jr has been arrested by Erisco Foods Limited over her review.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that Egodu had left a honest review on the Nagiko Tomato Mix, a product of the company on he Facebook account on September 17.

She had complained of the high sugar content in the tomato paste and sought for opinions of other persons who may have used the product.

“I went to buy tin tomatoes yesterday that I will use to make stew. I didn’t see Gino and Sonia, so I decided to buy this one (Nagiko). When I opened it omo! I decided to taste it. Sugar is just too much. Haa biko (please) let me know if you have used this tin tomato before because this is an ike gwuru (tiring) situation,” she posted on Facebook.

However, Egodi Jr started receiving threat messages from associates of the owners of the company and took to her wall to raise concern two days later.

She was accused of trying to ruin their brother’s business.

In a statement later, Erisco Foods Limited, announced it would “bring the said Egodi Jnr.’s Facebook post to the attention of the relevant authorities.”

The company accused her of asking her followers to avoid the tomato paste because it was “not fit for human consumption.”

Egodi subsequently announced on September 24 that men from the Ogudu Police Station in Lagos had arrested her after she spoke at a mini importation event.

FCCPC confirms Chioma’s arrest

Meanwhile, Babatunde Irukera, the chief executive officer of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), confirmed on Monday that Egodi Jnr. was no longer at the Ogudu Police Station.

Irukera noted that the case was already transferred to the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The incident has since caused widespread condemnation on the company for arresting a customers who gave her opinion on a product.
