The organized labour has announced an indefinite strike across the country.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress resolved to ground activities across the country starting from October 3, 2023.

The resolve follows an alleged “failure” of the federal government to implement policies to aimed at alleviating the sufferings of Nigerians occasioned by the fuel subsidy removal.

NLC national president, Joe Ajaero, told National Executive Members on Tuesday that a meeting was held with TUC officials to deliberate on ways forward.

The NLC had earlier embarked on a two-day warning strike between September 5 and 6 to indicate readiness to shut down the entire country.

However, Ajaero complained that “none of the demands put before the Federal Government had been addressed.”

Organized labour is demanding wage awards, implementation of palliatives, tax exemptions and allowances to public sector workers, and a review of the minimum wage, amongst others.
