Sir Alex Ferguson, who is now 81 years old, first crossed paths with Lady Cathy back in 1964 when they were both employed at a typewriter factory.

Two years later, in 1966, they tied the knot.

When he announced his retirement in 2013, Sir Alex paid tribute to his wife, Cathy, saying, “My wife Cathy has been the cornerstone of my career, providing stability and encouragement.

Words cannot adequately express what she has meant to me.”

In 2002, Lady Cathy played a pivotal role in convincing him to reconsider his retirement plans.

He went on to manage the club for an additional 11 years before eventually stepping down after the passing of Lady Cathy’s sister.

In a documentary titled “Sir Alex Ferguson: Never Give In,” released in 2021, Cathy shared a sweet memory of their first date, where Sir Alex took her to the cinema.

She recalled, “He bought me a box of liquorice allsorts at the movies, of which he ate all of them, and a local paper when we came out.

That was my romantic day.

I went to my work, and he went to his football game.”
