NLC, TUC Gives Govs Ultimatum on N35k Minimum Wage
SHARE

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have given a two-week ultimatum to governors to commence negotiations on the N35,000 wage award for workers in their states.

The NLC and TUC’s demand was in line with the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Federal Government and the labor unions.

The state chapters of the NLC and TUC have written to the governors to fast-track the necessary protocols and implement the award meant to quench the subsidy removal pains.

The labor groups reiterated that the deadline for payment of the wage award will expire in the next two weeks, and they asked that the governors begin the implementation process.

The two-week ultimatum was released on Tuesday, October 17, after they called off the action due to the wage award agreement on October 1.

Recall that the NLC and the TUC had threatened to go on a nationwide walkout on October 3, stating the federal government’s failure to meet their subsidy removal demands.
