President Bola Tinubu has formally requested the Senate to promptly review and confirm the appointment of Adamu Aliyu as Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commissioner (ICPC).
Tinubu’s request was made through a letter addressed to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
The President also conveyed the appointments of Saka Bolaji Suleiman and Prof Dantata as members of the Federal Judicial Service Commission in the same letter, seeking the Senate’s confirmation for these appointments as well.
The President appointed Dr Aliyu as the new Chairman of the ICPC over a week ago.

The Presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale disclosed in a recent statement.
Ngelale said:
“The new Chairman of the ICPC is nominated for confirmation by the Nigerian Senate, following the President’s approval of the outgoing Chairman’s request to proceed on pre-end of tenure leave beginning on November 4, 2023, ahead of the expiration of his tenure on February 3, 2024.
“The appointment is in furtherance of the Renewed Hope mandate to reform key institutions and invigorate Nigeria’s war on corruption.”
In a separate development, Senator Amos Yohanna has been sworn in as the new representative for Adamawa North senatorial district, replacing Senator Elisha Abbo, whose election was recently invalidated by the court.
