Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has found about seventy decomposed dead bodies discovered by security operatives during a raid of a forest around the Lokpanta Cattle Market on the Umunneochi axis of the Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway.

Otti disclosed at his monthly media chat held in Government House, Umuahia, on Monday that over twenty headless bodies and countless human skeletons were also found.

The governor expressed regret that the vicinity of the market had become a den of criminals and vowed that there was no going back on the decision of the state government to eject all residents out of the market.

The Abia governor said it would become a day market “that closes in the evening and everybody goes home.”

He added:

“We are single-minded about rooting out insecurity in Abia State because we know that no government can succeed in the face of insecurity, violence, armed and kidnapping.

The governor promised to deploy gadgets at strategic places to ensure the security of lives and property in the state.

He said:
“This government will not get involved in supporting insecurity. Our devices will be installed in strategic places.”

He stressed that his administration will ensure Abians enjoyed a remarkable Christmas in 2023.
