Twitter Inc has permanently banned the account of United States outgoing President, Donald Trump, for repeated rules violation.
This marks the most high-profile punishment the social media giant has ever imposed.
In a blog post made public by the company on Friday, January 8, it reads;
ATTENTION: Click “HERE” to join our WhatsApp group and receive News updates directly on your WhatsApp!
“After a close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them — specifically how they are being received and interpreted on and off Twitter — we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence.”
The company announced the ban two days after Trump was initially suspended on Wednesday, January 6, for posting a series of mislead tweets about the presidential election results which appeared to encourage violent rioters who recently mobbed the US Capitol.
