Locals in certain villages across Kaduna have been made to pay levies to enable them harvest crops from their farms by bandits.
Daily Report Nigeria reports that terrorists terrorising the areas have made it compulsory for the locals to cough out stipulated amounts to be able to access their farms.
Some of the affected villages include Kidandan and Galadima villages, as farmers from Angular Fala’u and Kerawa villages constantly faced harassment and kidnapped while working on their farms.
Malam Jamil Kidandan, a resident of Kidandan village revealed that the farmers pay between N70,000 to N100,000 before they are allowed to harvest their farm produce.

Jamil explained that farmers who refuse to pay are either kidnapped, killed or have their farm produce seized by the bandits.
“The bandits’ warlord and his boys stay by the side while a farmer goes to negotiate with him before gaining access to the farm,” told newsmen.
The farmer who called on the Federal Government to come to their rescue, noted that same atrocities were committed against farmers at the Galadimawa axis.
He called on security agencies to intensify their raids in bandit camps around Giwa local government area.
Some of the bandit leaders leading the assault on the villagers include Buhari, his deputy, Gana’i, while the third in command is called Kwalameri.
A community leader in Angular Salahu, Malam Jafar Anaba, who was displaced from his village near Kerawa, cried of a potential shortage of food crops in the state if care is not taken.
He lamented that many farmers have abandoned their farms due to activities of the bandits in the area.
Meanwhile, some bandits invaded Anguwar Algaita village in the Randagi Ward of Birnin Gwari Local Government Area in Kaduna on Tuesday night.
According to Daily Trust, 12 residents, including women and adults were abducted during the attack.
