The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is currently investigating the incident(s) of pre-filled election result sheets in Ogori/Magongo, Eika/Ohizenyi, and other areas of Kogi State.

YIAGA Africa, a civil society organization, raised the alarm about this issue on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Responding, INEC assures the public that its senior officials are actively looking into the matter and will communicate a decision promptly.

INEC said:

“Our attention has been drawn to a report that filled result sheets were discovered in some polling units in Kogi State.

“The Commission views this situation seriously.

“Our senior officials deployed to the State are currently investigating the incident(s). The Commission will communicate its decision earnestly.”

In Kogi State, there are a total of 1,932,654 registered voters, with 1,833,160 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) collected.

The youth make up 44% (850k) of the registered voters, while the middle-aged account for 32% (341k).

Eighteen candidates are participating in the governorship elections in Kogi.

The eighteen candidates include Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP); Leke Abejide of the African Democratic Party (ADC); Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); and Usman Ododo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), an ex-Auditor General of Local Government in Kogi under Governor Yahaya Bello.

Other states currently conducting the off-cycle governorship elections are Imo and Bayelsa states.
