A group of lawyers, known as the Concerned Northern Lawyers Forum has revealed their plan to sue the Federal Government following the accidental bombing incident in Kaduna State.

The lawyers, led by Barrister Nafi’u Abubakar disclosed they are determined to ensure that justice is served.

The military airstrike occurred in Tudun Biri village of the state on Sunday. The “collateral damage” resulted in the tragic loss of over 120 innocent lives during a Maulud celebration.

The Forum is also calling for an immediate and independent investigation into the bombing.

Abubakar said at a press conference held in Kaduna on Saturday:

“It is imperative that those responsible are held accountable for their actions, and measures are put in place to prevent any recurrence of such incidents in the future.

“We also urge the Nigerian Army to reevaluate its rules of engagement and training procedures to prevent the loss of innocent lives during military operations. It is vital that the Nigerian Army, as a defender of the nation, exercises utmost caution to avoid any further instances of collateral damage and civilian casualties.”

The Concerned Northern Lawyers Forum also sympathized with the bereaved families, stressing that they will seek justice for the victims’ families.
