Maritime workers under the aegis of NPA Boat Owners Union, Warri, have announced an increase in boat fares.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that the increase in boat fares in a public statement by the Union’s Secretary, Reuben Tubotu.

According to Mr. Tubotu, the increase is an offshoot of the hike in outboard engines and parts.

He assured of the Union’s commitment to meeting the needs of travelers on waterways across the state.

According to the memo cited by Daily Report Nigeria, travelers will pay higher fares starting January 2, 2024.

It read, “We regret to announce the increase in boat fares from the NPA boatyard starting January 2, 2024.

“The increase in fares is due to the high cost of spare parts, fuel and other commodities in the market.

“We use this means to reiterate our commitment to delivering quality service to our esteemed customers,” the statement added.
