EFCC Uncovers Religious Sect Laundering Terrorists Money | Daily Report Nigeria

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)has uncovered a religious sect in Nigeria that is laundering money for terrorists.

Ola Olukoyede, the Chairman of the EFCC made the discovery known on Wednesday during a one-day dialogue on “Youth, Religion, and the Fight against Corruption” held at the Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja.

Olukoyede revealed that the anti-graft agency also disclosed that another religious body was found to be protecting a money launderer.

The above came after some money suspected to have been laundered was traced to the organization’s bank account.

He stressed that some religious organizations, institutions, sects, and bodies have been found culpable of money laundering.

The Anti-graft Boss then called for religious, traditional leaders, and public officials to assist the EFCC in its bid to curb corruption in the country.

He stressed that the Commission would not spare anyone found culpable of financial crimes, including members of the executive, legislative, and judiciary arms of government.

He said:

A religious sect in this country had been found to be laundering money for terrorists.

“No one will be spared, we’ll probe everyone who is suspected to be committing financial crimes, and these include members of the executive, legislative, and judiciary arms of government.”

Dignitaries present at the event were the Vice President, Kashim Shettima represented President Bola Tinubu.

Others were the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, former Minister of Power, Babatunde Fashola, the Ọọni of Ifẹ, Ọba Enitan Ogunwusi, the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar.

The rest were the President, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the Chairperson, Nigeria Committee of Vice Chancellors, Professor Lilian Salami, and the Registrar of JAMB, Professor Ishaq Oloyede.
