Ivory Coast, the hosts of the 2023 African Cup of Nations will compete against Nigeria in the final of the match.

Ivory Coast secured their spot with a narrow 1-0 victory over DR Congo in the second semi-final on Wednesday night.

During the first half, neither team managed to score.

However, Sebastien Haller’s scrappy finish in the second half proved sufficient to propel the Elephants to the final.

In the championship match, they will face the Super Eagles as they vie for the coveted trophy on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Nigeria, in their semi-final clash against South Africa, required a penalty shootout to advance.

The match had ended in a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes, and Stanley Nwabali’s two crucial saves during the shootout ensured that the three-time African champions progressed.

Sunday’s final is a rematch of a Group A fixture in the tournament, where Nigeria emerged victorious with a 1-0 win, courtesy of William Troost-Ekong’s penalty.
