Meanwhile, Nigeria, in their semi-final clash against South Africa, required a penalty shootout to advance.
The match had ended in a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes, and Stanley Nwabali’s two crucial saves during the shootout ensured that the three-time African champions progressed.
Sunday’s final is a rematch of a Group A fixture in the tournament, where Nigeria emerged victorious with a 1-0 win, courtesy of William Troost-Ekong’s penalty.
