Chief Osondu Nwoye died in AFCON match

Chief Osondu Nwoye, the wealthiest Igbo businessman based in Ivory Coast until yesterday, unexpectedly met his demise while watching his beloved Super Eagles play in AFCON in Ivory Coast, where he resided and managed his thriving business.

Until yesterday, High Chief Osondu was alive and well. He traveled to Bourke, the city hosting the Super Eagles match, fueled by his love for football and patriotism for his homeland.

Eyewitnesses reported that he was elated when Victor Osimhen scored the second goal, only for it to be later cancelled by VAR. Perhaps the shock of the goal being disallowed and a penalty awarded to South Africa was too much for his fragile heart, causing him to collapse in the stadium.

Despite frantic attempts to revive him, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. While the nation celebrated for the AFCON win, the Amanuike community in Anambra State mourned the loss of an illustrious figure—their wealthiest member, who provided support and shelter to many in the community.
