Last Thursday, the Kano State Hisbah Board seized a van traveling from Kaduna to Kano, confiscating a staggering 8,600 beer bottles.
The seizure occurred at Kwanar Dangora village along the Kano-Kaduna Expressway.
Idris Ibrahim, the Officer in Charge of intoxicants at the board, disclosed that vigilant operatives had been closely monitoring the vehicle’s journey from Kaduna until it crossed into Kano territory.
LDespite the driver’s attempts to evade authorities, the Hisbah operatives successfully apprehended him.

As a consequence, the driver will face legal repercussions in court, according to Ibrahim.
Simultaneously, the Hisbah Command conducted operations resulting in the arrest of 15 young women accused of engaging in prostitution.
The arrests occurred at various locations, including Hotoro Tishama, Bakin River Verd Sabon Gari, Miyangu Road, Hadejia Road, and the old Zoo Road motor park.
Dr Mujahid Aminuddeen, the Deputy Commander-General of the board, confirmed the arrests and stated the recurrence of such cases.
Some of the apprehended women had previously faced legal action but continued their involvement in the illicit activity.
Dr Aminuddeen urged the public to collaborate with authorities by reporting such objectionable behaviors.
He acknowledged that some of the women found themselves in difficult circumstances, stressing the hardships that led them down the path.
Also, he highlighted the widespread drug abuse among these individuals, impacting both their appearance and mental stability.
