On Friday, troops of the Nigerian Army intercepted two Dangote trucks and three others, suspected of transporting prohibited goods to the Republic of Cameroon.

The interception took place near Jamtari, a border village between Nigeria and Cameroon, just a few kilometers before the border.

Each Dangote truck was loaded with 600 50kg bags of cement.

The seizure follows an executive order issued by Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, which prohibits the transportation of building materials across the country’s border via Adamawa routes.

Spokespersons for the governor and the police command, Humwashi Wonosikou and SP Suleiman Nguroje, jointly stated the government’s stance against such activities, labeling them as unacceptable.

However, officials from the Yola depot of Dangote Cement denied that the products were destined for Cameroon, arguing that it violated their business rights.

Abiola Oyetunji, identified as the contact person on the waybill, expressed surprise that the trucks had left the depot without the goods being sold, contradicting the company’s protocol.

Dangote Cement Plc, a Nigerian multinational cement manufacturer headquartered in Lagos, operates as a subsidiary of the Dangote Group, founded by Aliko Dangote.
