Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo expressed optimism regarding Taiwo Awoniyi’s recovery after the striker suffered another injury during the match against West Ham United on Saturday.
Awoniyi contributed to Forest’s victory with a goal in their 2-0 win against the Hammers at the City Ground.
However, his game was cut short as he was substituted by Divock Origi in the 67th minute due to an injury.

“We have to assess him and see how he is. We all know he has been struggling for a long time, and hadn’t played much,” Santo was quoted by Derby Unifoot.
“We have pushed him, and he’s done more than he should have. We hope it’s nothing serious.”
Since joining Nottingham Forest in 2022, Awoniyi has faced challenges with injuries, including a recent surgery for a groin injury.
Despite these setbacks, the 26-year-old forward has shown promise on the field, scoring six goals in 14 league appearances for the Tricky Trees this season.
