The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the House of Representatives has invited the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Olayemi Cardoso to appear before it.
PAC stated that the reason behind the invitation was due to revenue leakages and the governor’s attitude to the parliament’s summons on several occasions.
The committee summoned Cardoso, to appear before it on or before Tuesday, March 5, to address the issues.
During the investigative hearing of the committee on revenue leakages, the CBN Governor sent an assistant director, which upset the lawmakers.

The committee chairman, Rep Bamidele Salam, stressed the importance of the CBN’s accountability to the legislative body and the Nigerian people.
Salam urged the CBN governor to work with the committee to achieve President Bola Tinubu’s reform agenda and bring Nigeria out of the woods economically and financially.
He further expressed concerns about the governor’s conduct since assuming office, saying that it has left much to be desired.
Salam said:
“I feel somehow alarmed at the kind of vibes we get from the Central Bank Of Nigeria and especially the governor of the bank, Mr Olayemi Cardoso.
“I have reasons to doubt whether the CBN governor is interested in the success of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
“I have serious doubt as to whether he is actually interested in reinventing Nigeria and bringing Nigeria out of the woods economically and financially.
“I have tremendous respect for him, but his conduct since assuming this office has left much to be desired.
“Honorable colleagues, in this same committee room, we have written letters several times, and I am not talking about 5, 6, 7, 8,9 concerning one matter or another.”
