Nigeria Football Supporters Club President Calls for Super Eagles Coach Upgrade After Peseiro’s Departure

Former Super Eagles coach

Rafiu Ladipo, the President General of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC), has emphasized that Jose Peseiro exceeded expectations during his tenure as coach, despite not being given a fair chance. He suggested that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) should appoint a coach who surpasses Peseiro’s standard for the Super Eagles job.

Peseiro, who guided Nigeria to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final in Ivory Coast, expressed his gratitude to the NFF and other stakeholders in Nigerian football for the opportunity to serve as coach of the Super Eagles in a farewell message on his official social media handle on Friday.

Commenting on the situation, Ladipo stated:

”Now, we need to start looking for another coach better than [Jose] Peseiro and not anyone that’s not up to his standard.

”Whether we like it or not, he took us to the finals of the 2023 AFCON.

”Peseiro wasn’t given a chance at all, but he performed beyond the expectations and the target of semi-final berth, up to the final against the host nation, Ivory Coast.”
