The economic hardship currently faced by Nigerians has been attributed by Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State to the previous administration led by Muhammadu Buhari.

During the swearing-in of 22 Special Advisers and heads of government agencies at the Government House in Jos on Monday, the Mutfwang alleged that Buhari supervised the printing and sharing of about N30 trillion, which has left the country’s economy in terrible shape for his successor, President Bola Tinubu.

He stressed the need for governance to take precedence over politics after the election, as it would help tackle the current economic challenges.

Even though the Federal Government is being led by a party other than his own, the Governor felt it was his duty to tell Nigerians the truth about the situation.

He stated that the current administration inherited a worse situation than 1999, with an economy where money was printed up to the tune of N30tn and shared.

The Governor added that the crude oil that was yet to be taken out of the ground had already been sold in advance.

He believes that the fall of the Naira is not rocket science, given that the country sold its future under the last administration.

Riots and food interceptions have been reported in some states, but he feels that Plateau State is lucky to have more food than many other states.

However, he believed that the government would take the necessary steps to address the economic challenges and make life better for Nigerians.
