The lawyer representing Martins Victor Otse, who is known as VeryDarkBlackMan, is pointing out that the strict bail conditions are why he’s still in police custody since his arrest last Friday. VeryDarkBlackMan got arrested following complaints from individuals his lawyer now claims are Tonto Dike, Iyabo Ojo, and Samklef.

According to reports, Tonto Dike was upset because she felt defamed and accused of being involved with an anonymous blog called Gistlover. VeryDarkBlackMan had previously expressed concerns about his safety after being summoned to address questions from the initial complaint, and his lawyer hinted that Tonto Dike should be held accountable if anything happened to him.

The lawyer suggested that after their first attempt didn’t succeed, the trio (Tonto Dike, Iyabo Ojo, and Samklef) sent additional petitions to various departments within the Nigerian Police Force.

Regarding the conditions for VeryDarkBlackMan’s release, the lawyer explained that he was required to find two Level 15 civil servants to act as sureties. However, even after fulfilling this requirement, they were informed that the senior police officer needed to approve VeryDarkBlackMan’s release was unavailable.

“We are doing everything to perfect his bail conditions. The complainants are faces that have been made known to us. They wrote a similar petition against him last year which took us to Police Force headquarters in January.

“He has not committed any offense that is not bailable. What he is being accused of is a mere insult”, the lawyer said.
