Tinubu Appoints Coordinator For National Counter-Terrorism Centre | Daily Report Nigeria

Bola Tinubu, the President of Nigeria, has appointed Adamu Laka as the coordinator of the National Counter-Terrorism Center, which aims to combat terrorism in the country.

Laka, who is a Major General, has vast experience in tackling terrorist groups in the northeast region of Nigeria, as well as in Sierra Leone and the Democratic Republic of Congo. He will work under the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

He has been tasked with developing proactive strategies to remove security threats and coordinate counter-terrorism operations across Nigeria.

The President believes that Laka’s expertise will enable him to carry out the role effectively.

Laka’s appointment was contained in a statement on Tuesday by Ajuri Ngelale, the presidential spokesperson.

It read:

General Laka served in various capacities in the North-East, Nigeria, where he deployed tactical means to degrade terrorist groups.

“He also served in Sierra Leone and the Democratic Republic of Congo under the United Nations and was part of the Nigerian contingent in the US AFRICOM exercise in Senegal.

He holds Master’s Degrees in National Security from the National Defence University, Pakistan, and in International Affairs and Strategic Studies, Nigerian Defence Academy.

“The President anticipates that General Laka will bring his vast experience into this critical role to effectively remove security threats through pre-emptive, proactive, and diligent counter-terrorism coordination.”
