Jamie Redknapp, the former Liverpool midfielder, expressed his astonishment at Manchester United’s performance, suggesting that they allowed Brentford to shine like Real Madrid during their 1-1 draw at the GTech Community Stadium on Saturday.
Despite United taking the lead with Mason Mount’s goal in the 96th minute, Redknapp observed that they were outplayed for much of the game.
However, Brentford managed to equalize just three minutes later, with Kristoffer Ajer finding the net for the hosts.
“They gave up so much possession, there was a lack of energy with the ball, without the ball. They made Brentford look like Real Madrid!
“The way Man Utd were was so off it. The lack of desire to go into individual battles, letting them play.
“It was too easy for Brentford. It was like United at times only had nine men on the pitch,” Redknapp said on Sky Sports.
