Nigerian singers Rema and Asake have both achieved significant milestones in the Afrobeats genre.

Asake made history by winning the 2024 GQ Global Creative Award, marking the first time an Afrobeats artist has received this prestigious accolade. The excited singer shared a snapshot of his award plaque on his Instagram story, giving credit to GQ for the recognition.

Meanwhile, Rema’s track “Calm Down” has been nominated for “Best Hit International” at the 2024 Swiss Music Awards. This nomination marks a groundbreaking achievement as “Calm Down” becomes the first Nigerian/Afrobeats song to receive a nomination at the Swiss Music Awards.
