Before being sentenced to prison, controversial social media personality and cross-dresser, Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, openly admitted to being a man during the court proceedings.
Bobrisky received a six-month prison term without the option of a fine for his involvement in abusing the Nigerian currency, the Naira. When questioned about his gender by the judge, Bobrisky promptly responded, “I am a man.”
Following the verdict, Bobrisky was remanded to serve his sentence at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre, with the judge ruling that his imprisonment would begin from March 24, 2024, the date of his arrest.

Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos, who delivered the sentence, emphasized the importance of deterring others from engaging in similar acts of Naira abuse and mutilation.
Bobrisky’s conviction stemmed from his guilty plea on April 5 to a four-count charge of Naira abuse brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The charges included incidents where Bobrisky was accused of tampering with various amounts of money at different locations between 2022 and 2023.
