Chiamaka Nnadozie, a 23-year-old Nigerian international goalkeeper, has made history by becoming the first African and Nigerian player to be named the best goalkeeper in the French D1 Arkema women’s league.
Nnadozie’s outstanding performances this season, including her impressive penalty-saving skills, have solidified her position as one of the world’s top goalkeepers.
She outshone stiff competition from Christiane Endler of Olympic Lyon and Katarzyna Kiedrzynek of Paris SG to claim the prestigious individual award.
Pierre Ferracci, president of Nnadozie’s club Paris FC, praised her achievement, saying, “She deserves it, and her exceptional Champions League performance, including her penalty-saving heroics, made her stand out.”

Nnadozie’s remarkable penalty-saving record this season, with seven saves, is the highest in Europe.
Paris FC currently sits third in the league, and Nnadozie’s award is a testament to her hard work and dedication.
Taking to social media, an elated Nnadozie said:

Nnadozie also received the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award in 2023, further cementing her reputation as a top-class goalkeeper.
