The Lagos State Police Command has nabbed a 10-member group of suspected ritualists accused of murdering individuals and harvesting their body parts for sale in various states.

The suspects, including a female Osun priestess, a community chief, an Ifa priest, an Islamic cleric, and a traditional medicine practitioner, were arrested based on intelligence reports from the public.

According to police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, the gang’s leader, 33-year-old Ademola Akinlosotu, initially confessed to exhuming corpses from cemeteries and selling their parts to ritualists.

However, Akinlosotu later admitted to killing and selling human parts to clients on demand. He claimed that his clients preferred fresh parts over dead body parts, leading him to graduate from grave robbing to murder.

He allegedly supplied the harvested parts to 52-year-old Ahmed Wahab, aka Alfa Bororo, who operated in Badagry, Lagos State, and Ogun State.

The suspects sold human heads for N45,000 to N50,000, dried human heads for N30,000 to N35,000, hearts for N70,000, and hands for N50,000.

Akinlosotu confessed to killing two individuals, including a friend he met on social media, before his arrest.

He claimed that the gang would consult an herbalist to determine the success of their killings and that a traditional ruler in Badagry had requested him to kill his troublesome son.

However, the day of the planned killing coincided with a visit from his online friend, who was subsequently murdered.

The police recovered various human parts from the suspects and are continuing their investigation to apprehend other suspects.

Hundeyin added that the suspects will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.
