Nigerian singer Iyanya didn’t take it lightly when a social media user dismissed his music career while discussing why Wizkid might be facing criticism in the music industry.
A user on the X platform with the handle @itzbasito wrote, “Wizkid’s only crime is surpassing the benchmark set for him and becoming the benchmark himself.” This led to a repost by another user, @Xperience_Snr, who implied that people had expected Wizkid to end up like Iyanya or Samklef, rather than achieving massive success.
The tweet read, “The same reason why Drake gets a lot of hate. The entertainment industry never expected a little white boy to go that far. Wizkid was supposed to end up like Samklef and Iyanya.”

Iyanya found the suggestion that his career fell short of expectations insulting and responded sharply to the comment. He quoted the tweet, saying, “You will end up like your father.”
In a follow-up post, he expressed his frustration, writing, “This space is toxic; y’all just wake up and undermine a creative’s years of work.”
