That win allowed Die Werkself to match Benfica’s longstanding European record, which was set between December 1963 and February 1965.
If they defeat AS Roma, Leverkusen will break the record, setting a new benchmark for the longest unbeaten streak by a European club.
Leverkusen is aiming to win the Europa League for the second time in their history, the first time being in the 1987/88 season.
