President Bola Tinubu has issued a directive prohibiting members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) from purchasing petrol-dependent vehicles.

The move was part of Tinubu’s administration’s efforts to promote the use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-enabled motors.

According to a statement released by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, on Monday in Abuja, the move aligns with the President’s commitment to harnessing Nigeria’s gas potential, reducing transportation costs, and improving the standard of living for all citizens.

The President’s directive also encouraged the adoption of cleaner energy sources, as CNG-enabled vehicles produce lower emissions and offer a more affordable alternative for energy consumers.

Furthermore, all government ministries, departments, and agencies have been instructed to mandatorily purchase CNG-powered vehicles, setting an example for the public as government officials.

Tinubu stressed that his administration’s energy reforms are irreversible, stating, “We cannot make progress if we continue to repeat the same actions.”
