Chuba Akpom is set to depart from Ajax Amsterdam at the end of the season.

The striker, who joined the Dutch giants from Middlesbrough last summer, has struggled to secure regular playing time and is now linked with a return to England.

Ajax insider Lentin Goodijk suggested that the Nigerian-born player may leave the club before the next season begins.

“I don’t think he will accept sitting on the bench, especially if serious clubs come for him, which I expect,” Goodijk said, as quoted by Soccernews.

“It could easily happen by August when Premier League clubs start to panic a bit and have him on their list. If he can be picked up for €15m, that is absolutely nothing for Premier League clubs.”
