Nigeria, Pakistan Set to Collaborate on Defence Equipment Production

The Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Muhammed Matawalle, has revealed Nigeria’s willingness to partner with Pakistan in the production of defence equipment and hardware.

Matawalle stated that the partnership will be facilitated through the newly established Nigerian Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) Act.

He made the announcement during a courtesy visit from a delegation from the Pakistan Air Force, led by Air Vice Marshal Zaeem, to his office in Abuja.

The Minister stressed that the collaboration will not only enhance Nigeria’s military capabilities but also foster real-time intelligence sharing between the two nations.

He assured the delegation that the Ministry will provide the necessary requirements for proper documentation and further engagements, which will benefit both countries.

The Pakistani delegation is in Nigeria to participate in the 60th Anniversary of the Nigerian Air Force and the 3rd African Air Force Forum, scheduled for May 23-24, 2024, in Abuja, with the grand finale on May 25, 2024, in Kaduna.

It was said that the historic event will attract several Chiefs of Air Staff and aerospace industry leaders from around the world.

Zaeem further disclosed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Nigeria in producing military equipment to combat insecurity.

He pointed out the long-standing military ties between the two nations and Pakistan’s willingness to provide real-time intelligence sharing and training to help Nigeria fight insecurity.
