The House of Representatives has clarified that a circulating bill aimed at reintroducing Nigeria’s regional government system is not affiliated with the legislative body.

Checks revealed that the bill, which has garnered attention on social media, proposed a new governance model for the country.

However, the House’s spokesperson, Akin Rotimi has stated that the bill is not recognized by the Lawmakers and is not under consideration.

Francis Waive, Chairman of the House Committee on Rules and Business, also explained that the bill has not been presented to the committee.

According to Waive, any constitutional amendment proposals must follow established procedures, involving either member-sponsored bills or memoranda submitted to the Constitution Review Committee, which would then require a sponsoring member to introduce the bill.
