Cristiano Ronaldo, the star player for Al Nassr, was visibly emotional as his team suffered a heartbreaking 5-4 penalty shootout loss to Al Hilal in the King’s Cup final on Friday.

The defeat means Ronaldo ends the season without any silverware, as Al Hilal completed a league and cup double with the victory.

The match in Jeddah ended 1-1 after regular time, and neither team managed to break the deadlock in extra time.

Aleksandar Mitrovic scored early for Al Hilal in the seventh minute, but Aiman Yahya equalized for Al Nassr in the 88th minute.

The game was marred by intense emotions and saw three players shown red cards. David Ospina was sent off for Al Nassr in the 57th minute, followed by Ali Al-Bulayhi and Kalidou Koulibaly for Al Hilal late in the match.

Al Hilal goalkeeper Yassine Bounou emerged as the hero, saving Al Nassr’s final two penalties to clinch the trophy.
