Pupils Caught Washing Cassava Instead of Learning in Bayelsa School

Bayelsa State’s Education Commissioner, Dr Gentle Emelah, conducted a surprise visit to Community Primary School 1 & 2 in Angalabiri, Sagbama LGA, as part of his routine inspections.

Upon arrival, he was dismayed to find students washing cassava in the school premises during school hours.

The pupils revealed that they had not received any academic instruction that day and were instead instructed by their teachers to harvest cassava for them.

When questioned, the teachers acknowledged the incident and apologized, pleading for forgiveness.

Emelah, however, was displeased and summoned the absent Head Teacher and all teachers to report to his office in Yenagoa for disciplinary action.
