Despite efforts by the National Assembly to find a middle ground, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) are determined to proceed with the strike, while continuing negotiations on their demands.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio stated that the strike would cripple the economy and exacerbate hardship for Nigerians.

Attorney General Lateef Fagbemi warned that the strike would be premature and illegal, while President Bola Tinubu’s media adviser, Ajuri Ngelale, cautioned that the demanded wage increase could have devastating economic consequences.

Governor Bala Mohammed, chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, explained that some states cannot afford the proposed minimum wage, warning that it could collapse the economy and worsen poverty.

Similarly, Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar urged labor to reconsider the strike, citing potential adverse effects on the country.

In a show of support, aviation labor unions threatened to shut down airports if the strike is not suspended.
