The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has directed its members to join the indefinite nationwide strike beginning June 3, 2024, in compliance with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) directive.

In a circular dated May 31, 2024, SSANU Senior Assistant General Secretary, Comrade Kingsley U S Okayi, urged branch chairmen to liaise with NLC state chapters to ensure a comprehensive closure of workplaces until further notice.

The strike, called by the NLC, protests the Federal Government’s failure to negotiate a new minimum wage for Nigerian workers.

SSANU members are expected to report to their national vice presidents and the national secretariat on the progress of the industrial action.
