The ongoing strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) has caused great disruption to medical services at Kubwa General Hospital in Abuja, leaving patients in a state of distress.
Although the hospital’s gates remain open, the majority of medical personnel have joined the industrial action, which began on Monday in protest of the Federal Government’s proposed minimum wage of N60,000.
The strike’s impact is being felt across various hospital departments, including Radiology, where patients have been informed that no scans will be conducted until the strike is resolved.
A patient at the Pharmacy Unit of the Accident and Emergency Wards was denied medication despite having made the necessary payment, further stressing the strike’s devastating effects on healthcare services.
