Governor Alex Otti has increased the bounty on the killers of five soldiers in Obikabia Junction, Aba, from N25 million to N30 million.

Otti made the increment known during a meeting with top military officers, including the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Hasan Abubakar, and the Commander 14 Brigade Ohafia, Brigadier General O O Diya, at his country home in Isiala-Ngwa Local Government Area on Friday.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring Abia State remained a “no-go area” for terrorists, killers, kidnappers, and other criminals.

The Governor commended the security operatives for their unwavering dedication to fighting crime and announced that the additional N5 million was donated by an indigene of the state based in the United States (US).

Earlier, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Hasan Abubakar, stressed the Nigeria Air Force (NAF)’s desire to explore opportunities and collaborate with Abia State to enhance security.

Abubakar assured of continued synergy with other security agencies to protect lives and property nationwide.

Last week, the Abia State Government placed a N25 million bounty on the killers of the five soldiers and condoled with the Chief of Army Staff, Taoreed Lagbaja, over the incident.

Gunmen had attacked the military unit at Obikabia Junction, Ogbor Hill area, burning the unit and a patrol van, with some soldiers reportedly escaping the attack.
